San Remo in Flowers: the Carnival of San Remo (March 10, 2013)

The Riviera of Flowers will make your weekend the richest and most fragrant bouquet of the most wonderful colors, with the parade of the flower floats, the traditional carnival of San Remo.

Arrival in the afternoon and check-in at the chosen hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant and free evening to try your luck at the gaming rooms of the San Remo Municipal Casino. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

In the morning, transfer to the Palafiori of San Remo where you can visit the Festival of Flowers, the Mediterranean Flower Cultivation Salon, that will host a wonderful flower exhibition with a display of over 5000 square meters of the creations of the most capable local horticulturalists. At the Festival of Flowers you will also admire the works of the greatest Italian flower masters who will compete in the San Remo Bouquet competition: the winner will have the honor of creating the bouquets that will be offered to the winner of the Italian Music Festival. Lunch in a typical restaurant where you will try the specialties of the local cuisine. In the afternoon you can visit the interesting historic center, the Pigna. Admired by Italo Calvino, who described it in “I sentieri dei Nidi di Ragno” (The Paths of the Spider’s Nests), the Pigna still has the allure of an ancient medieval village and allows the most curious tourist to discover an unseen San Remo, made up of  steep streets and steps, arches and balconies, silent and isolated squares.

In the morning, transfer to San Remo to watch the parade of the flower floats in comfort from the seats of the stands; you will be able to admire a sequence of decorated floats with thousands of flowers of every color, full of special features and precious decorations. It’s a day to live intensely surrounded by the most beautiful perfumes and flowers of the Riviera! The event is always recorded by the video cameras of Rai Uno TV. Free lunch and departure in the afternoon.
