1^st day: Friday

Afternoon arrival with hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

2^nd day: Saturday – Bordighera and Ventimiglia

In the afternoon you can stroll through the streets of Ventimiglia, where you can go shopping in the elegant shops and cafes.

Dinner at a typical local restaurant.

Starting from 9:30 PM, you can watch the night parade of the floats of the Battle of Flowers, with the participation of folk music groups and the chance to sample some local products.

3rd day: Sunday – La Pigna of San Remo

Our offer includes:

• Admission for the night for the parade of the floats of the Battle of Flowers (standing).

Calvino and San Remo. La Pigna of San Remo, dear to Italo Calvino,  retains to this day the charm of a medieval village, and allows the more attentive visitor to discover an unsurpassed San Remo,  made up of winding streets and staircases, arches and buttresses, quiet and secluded  little squares.  Led by an experienced guide, you can retrace the alleyways leading to the summit dominated by the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Costa, following the pages of the many stories by the famous author.
Bussana Vecchia, a village destroyed by the earthquake of 1891, has become an international tourist attraction thanks to the  community of artists who have settled there since the sixties. The village is not accessible by coach, but a scenic mule track allows easy access.

The historic center of Coldirodi is equally delightful  – this is a village in the hills of San Remo, with its little square from the baroque era and an interesting art gallery housed in an old villa.

7 DAYS – 6 NIGHTS Travel Program

Day 1.

Arrival in San Remo, dinner and overnight stay; for your after dinner entertainment we suggest you try your luck at one of the gaming halls of the famous casino of San Remo.

Day 2. The Path of the Witches.

In the morning departure for the first leg of your tour in the Riviera of Flowers, which will unfold starting from San Remo, Arma di Taggia, to go up to the famous town of Triora, which offers remarkable landscapes, then Molini di Triora; once you have enjoyed these spectacular landscapes we return to San Remo.

Route of average difficulty: 50 km approx.
Gradient: from 0 to 700 m.

Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3. On the paths of the most classic routes.

The second day, we offer an impressively scenic journey along the famous Ligurian hills characteristic of the Milan-San Remo route, i.e. the Cipressa and Poggio. Along the way, you will be escorted from the sea and its beautiful landscapes through the hills you can see from the top of two hills in the beautiful village of the Riviera dei Fiori. The mostly flat course reaches its peak at the “Cypresses” with its 350 meters of altitude from the sea.

Route of average difficulty: 65 km approx.
Gradient: from 0 to 350 m.

Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4. Rest.

For the fourth day  you are off the bike in order to savor the beauty of San Remo, the old town “La Pigna”, the Old Port,  and the beautiful streets of the city center full of shops of all kind.   For lunch you can perhaps linger in a characteristic spot that will allow you to sample the local delicacies of Liguria.

In the afternoon a walk through the gardens and villas of the city is sure to satisfy you in terms of relaxation.

Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5. The coastal park of western Liguria.

After a day’s walking, once again cycling along the new bike path, starting from San Remo, along the road to San Lorenzo beside the sea with a chance to see wonderful landscapes. We will continue to Porto Maurizio, where still skirting the sea we will reach the halfway point and then take the main road and return to the city of flowers.

Path: Easy, about 50 km.
Gradient: 0 to 50 m.

Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6. The villages of the Ligurian Alps.

The last day in the saddle will be dedicated to exploring the hinterland of San Remo, passing through San Romolo, continuing to Apricale, Bayard, and then descending to Ceriana and making the famous descent of the Poggio.

Unlike previously this is a path that winds mainly through the inland hills, rich in places from where you can enjoy the beauties of the Riviera di Ponente, a perfect location for your souvenir photos!

Difficulty:  Path medium-high, 45 km.
Gradient: from 0 to 900 m.

Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7.

After breakfast, departure to the starting point.

Our offer includes:

1 ^st day:

Arrival in late afternoon in Rapallo / Santa Margherita Ligure for check-in to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

2nd Day: The Bay of Portofino

Today you will be conducted to the discovery of one of the most beautiful jewels in the world: Portofino opens its gates with a symphony of scents and colours. You will be astonished and captivated by your surroundings.. .

Awaiting you in the morning is a marvelous excursion in a small boat which will take you to one of the most exclusive spots in Liguria: Portofino.

From the churchyard of San Giorgio you have the most beautiful panorama of the city and, after a short walk, you arrive at the picturesque fortress of S. Giorgio (also known as Castle Brown), which looks out over the gulf of Tigullio.

At lunchtime you will be able to sample the regional cuisine in the friendly restaurants of the area.

In the afternoon you will embark in a small boat from Portofino for the bay of  S. Fruttuoso, a little fishing village where it is of great interest to visit the area of the abbey and the sixteenth-century  Torre dei Doria.

Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

3^rd day:  San Remo and the Riviera of  Flowers

In the morning you will transfer to Genoa where we would suggest you visit the celebrated Aquarium. Here there are 59 tanks containing 4 million litres of water which reproduce, in a spectacular manner, the habitats of the Mediterranean and the oceans, of the poles and the tropics, all of which ensures the health and well-being of the more than 500 species of fish, cetaceans, and amphibians.

At lunch you will be able to discover the typical flavours of Genoese cuisine,  such as Trenette al pesto, in a traditional osteria.

In the afternoon you will transfer to the city of flowers and of the Italian song festival, San Remo.  Check-in to your hotel will follow.

Dinner and overnight stay.

4^th day:   La Pigna: enchanted city

In the morning you will visit the lovely historic centre of San Remo: la Pigna. This area was very close to the heart of Italo Calvino who used it in his novel “Il sentiero dei nidi di ragno”. It is known as la Pigna, and even today retains much of the feel of a medieval village. In this way the more inquisitive visitor will be able to find a hidden San Remo, a city of winding steps and twisting alleyways, of arches and buttresses and of secluded and serene little squares. At the very top is the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Costa, protector of seafarers, which affords a spectacular panorama, having been built at the summit of the old town.

For lunch we’ ll be glad to suggest a typical bistro in the historic centre where you will be able to taste two of the great dishes of the San Remo cuisine.

You are free to spend the afternoon shopping along the renowned Via Matteotti and neighboring streets.

Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

5^th day: The Glamour of the French Riviera

In the morning transfer to Cannes, the glamorous home of the famous Film Festival.

Your visit will begin in the beautiful Suquet, the historic heart of the city which overlooks the old port, and contains perfectly intact reminders of the past: the Sant’Anna chapel built in the 12th century, the museum of  la Castre and the church of  Notre-Dame d’Espérance, built in the 17th century.

You are free for lunch.

In the afternoon you may like to take advantage of the shopping opportunities offered by the elegant rue d’Antibes or along the legendary Croisette, the promenade that winds among the great hotels and beaches of the city

Afterwards check-in to your  hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

6^th day: Lérins, the secret garden

After breakfast you will embark on a small boat for the Lérins islands, an oasis of freshness and tranquility between heaven and earth.

Sainte Marguerite and Saint Honorat will enthrall you with their beautiful natural landscapes. These islands are  a marine preservation area, protected by law. On the island of Saint Honorat it is well worth visiting the reconstructed 6th century abbey which is home to a congregation of Cistercian friars.

For lunch, allow yourself to be tempted by the typical  small restaurants that offer inviting fresh fish and seafood delicacies.

Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

7^th day:

Departure after breakfast.

PACKAGE 4 DAYS – 3 NIGHTS

There is nothing better than a fantastic climate combined with Easter on the Riviera, the perfume of flowering plants and flowering balconies in towns that are preparing to embrace the summer!

Day 1: Friday

Late afternoon arrival at the hotel with accommodation and dinner. For a memorable after dinner outing, you can try your luck at the casino. Overnight stay.

Day 2: Saturday – San Remo

In the morning visit to the Pigna, the old city, founded around the year 1000, which has remained virtually intact with its fascinating blend of steep and winding streets. Lunch in a typical restaurant in San Remo, where you can taste the typical products of traditional Ligurian cuisine. In the afternoon, we recommend visiting Bussana to see the remains of one of the most attractive of the Riviera dei Fiori locales, almost destroyed by an earthquake in the late nineteenth century.  Since the l970′s there has been a major community of Italian and international artists living here. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Easter Sunday

In the morning you can attend Easter Mass celebrated in the cathedral dedicated to San Remo San Siro. Inside is a beautifully preserved black crucifix from 1400. Not to be missed,  next to the cathedral, is the Baptistry, built on the ruins of a medieval church, and the Oratory of the Immaculate Conception, faced with marble decoration. Easter Lunch at the Restaurant Asmara, with menus for groups, with musical accompaniment provided. In the afternoon you can visit the Principality of Monaco, with the Magic Castle, which is found on a precipice overlooking the sea , as well as the Oceanographic Museum, the Cathedral and the Prince’s Palace. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Easter Monday

For the second day of Easter, we suggest you visit Dolceacqua, where you can walk through the alleyways of the ancient village in the shadow of the picturesque ruins of the castle of the Doria. At lunchtime, we will take you on a journey of discovery through the flavors of Liguria, with a tasting of local specialties. After the visit return to the place of origin.

1^st day

Arrival in late afternoon in the selected location of the Riviera of Ponente and  hotel accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.

2^nd day: A treasure called “Cinque Terre”

The most intense perfumes and colors of the Cinque Terre await you as you explore the most evocative and romantic spots on the Riviera di Levante.

After breakfast, an exciting excursion to the beautiful Cinque Terre awaits you, where you can see the entire coastline of one of the most beautiful locations of the Riviera of Levante and walk through its boroughs: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.

First stop is the delightful village of Monterosso al mare,  a village at the foot of hills covered with vineyards and olive trees.  The vegetation surrounds the village like a warm embrace:  the superb beach, the dramatic cliffs and the crystal clear sea water make this one of the most welcoming spots on the Riviera di Levante.

The medieval Aurora tower, which is located above the hill of the Capuchin friars, separates the ancient and modern parts of the village.  In the church of San Francesco you will find notable works of art among which is a Crucifixion attributed by many people to Van Dyck.

You are free to enjoy lunch in one of the many local restaurants where, as well as tasting some of the excellent Ligurian cuisine, you will be able to try for yourself the famous Cinque Terre doc wine.

In the afternoon you can discover, one by one, the other seaside villages, with the choice of traveling by train or boat, or walking along the footpath on the sea cliff, which in its most renowned stretch is known as Via dell’amore.

3^rd day: Portofino and San Remo: old-world charm

Towards the Riviera di Ponente to discover the treasures of Portofino and San Remo.  An exciting experience filled with the sun and the sea.

After breakfast you will depart for Portofino for an exciting excursion in this most exclusive of fishing villages in the spot known as the most elegant and exclusive in Italian Riviera.  Here you will find the most surprising variety of landscapes in terms of color and of panorama, between the natural park of the Portofino mount, and the Tiguillo gulf.

You will visit the imposing and picturesque fortress of San Giorgio, also known as castle Brown. The castle, which was built in 1554, is surrounded by a flower-filled Mediterranean garden which also contains rose gardens and pergolas.  The elevated position of the site, which controls access to the inlet, always contributed to its military use.

Lunch time is free for you to sample the ancient delights of the traditional seafood cuisine of the area.

In the afternoon you will embark on a small boat from Portofino for the bay of San Fruttuoso, a little fishing village where it is of great interest to visit the area of the abbey and the sixteenth-century Torre dei Doria. For many centuries the abbey belonged to the Doria-Panphili family: in 1986 it was donated to the FAI, who have overseen the restoration and re-opening to the public.  At the end of your visit you will return by boat to Portofino.

Onward travel to San Remo for check in to your hotel.  Dinner and overnight stay.

4^th day: San Remo: the city of flowers

An unforgettable day as you move among the most important residences of the city, all of which are surrounded by gardens in full bloom.

Your day will begin in the eastern area of the city with a visit to the Villa Ormond. The villa was built by the Rambaldi family from San Remo, before being taken over by the Parisian Ormond family in 1887.  The recently renovated park is in the late 19th century French style.  The colorful plants of the garden have been assembled from every corner of the globe: from the Canaries to Japan, from Tasmania to China and from California to Brazil.

In the immediate vicinity you will be able to visit the garden and interiors of Villa Nobel.  The villa  was  the last home of the Swedish scientist and is surrounded by a most beautiful park endowed with a  rich collection of pavilions and ornamental statues.  The villa has been recently entirely restored and transformed into a museum: you will thus be able to visit a collection of relics and equipment which belonged to the scientist , his laboratory, and the apartment where he drew up the famous testament which brought to life the prize bearing his name.

For lunch you will be free to taste typical Ligurian fare in one of the authentic Trattorias of the city or, if you prefer, you can choose among the many restaurants which provide international cuisine.

1^st  day:

2^nd day: The Valle Argentina: Triora and Taggia

In the morning, transfer to Triora, the… witches’ town!

No, it is not a legend, but documented history, as you will find out while visiting the Museo etnografico e della stregoneria, where you will find yourself in 4 sombre rooms which preserve the memory of a tragic chapter in local history. In 1558, in fact, the trial was held of  a group of thirteen women who were considered responsible for the famine that had plagued the region the previous year. The trial ended with their tragic condemnation to the stake for witchcraft.

Then you’ll visit this charming medieval town of the Ligurian Alps and have lunch in a local restaurant with tasting of typical dishes of the tradition.

In the afternoon, return to the coast and visit to the old town of   Taggia, where you can linger in the splendour of its characteristic streets and arches,  then on to the convent of  San Domenico and the prestigious art gallery, before heading into the area of the local shops where you will have the opportunity to purchase the typical canestrelli and anicini biscuits of  Taggia.

Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

3^rd day: The Valle Nervia – Dolceacqua and Apricale

In the morning, transfer to Dolceacqua, pearl of the Valle Nervia, and one of the first villages to earn the bandiera arancione.  Dolceacqua is a delightful medieval town, featuring an ancient humpbacked bridge and the ruins of the castle of the Doria.  Here, among artisan shops you can discover the true nectar of the Riviera: the Rossese di Dolceacqua, a prized red wine with an intense flavor.  At lunchtime you can enjoy the full range of wines of the Riviera, accompanied by delicious specialties of the valley.

In the afternoon visit to the old medieval borough of Apricale,  with its narrow streets clinging to the alpine slopes, where in season you will have the opportunity to taste a typical Ligurian snack:  pansarole con zabaglione. Return to your hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

4^th day: La Pigna, the historic center of San Remo
