In the morning, visit to the Museo dell’Olivo (closed Sundays) of the Fratelli Carli company of Imperia. Awared the European Museum of the Year Award in 1993, under the patronage of the Council of Europe, the museum is located in the heart of Oneglia, ancient traditional olive oil port. This is a location unique for its originality and contents, which testifies to the symbolic and cultural value of the oldest tree cultivated by man. Displaying six thousand years of history of Mediterranean civilizations, characteristic environments related to oil production have been recreated in the museum: the dry wall used to terrace the slopes of the Maritime Alps, an old oil mill and the hold of a Roman oil ship. After immersing yourself in history, you can also visit the modern factory of Fratelli Carli and devote yourself to shopping in the adjacent store.
Lunch in a typical local eatery to enjoy some Ligurian specialties.
In the afternoon, visit to the factory of the Raineri company, founded in 1910, where you can experience the various stages of the production of extra virgin olive oil. The company philosophy is to offer consumers a precise image of the high quality of “cold pressed” extra virgin olive oil . The Raineri extra virgin olive oil was included in the menu of the official gala dinner in Stockholm on the occasion of the ”Nobel Prize” in 1990 and the ”Great Jubilee” in 1991.
