The Riviera is a land divided between the sea and the mountains but it is also a land rich in vintage wines - and this because their limited production is based on the terraced vineyards that are literally wrested by man from the steep alpine valleys. During the morning visit to Dolceacqua - the pearl of Valle Nervia: it is a lovely medieval village characterised by a one-arched bridge and the ruins of a Doria's castle. Here among crafts shops you will find the nectar of the Riviera: Rossese of Dolceacqua - a vintage red wine with an intense flavour. It was the very first Ligurian wine to be awarded with the D.O.C. certification. At lunchtime you will visit the Gajaudo family's wine shop where you can taste all the wines of the Western Riviera together with the typical dishes of the valley. In the afternoon visit to Apricale - an ancient medieval village: with its distinctive carruggi it is perched on the alpine slopes. Here you will be able to taste the most traditional Ligurian snack: zabaglione with pansarole - i.e., small flat cakes covered with icing sugar. |
