In the morning, visit to the Museo dell’Olivo (closed Sundays) of the Fratelli Carli company of Imperia. Awarded the European Museum of the Year Award in 1993, under the patronage of the Council of Europe, the museum is located in the heart of Oneglia, ancient traditional olive oil port. Unique for its originality, this museum testifies to the symbolic and cultural value of the oldest tree cultivated by man. Characteristic settings related to olive oil production have been recreated in the museum halls, displaying six thousand years of history of Mediterranean civilizations: the dry wall technique used to create terraces on the slopes of the Maritime Alps, an historic oil mill and even the hold of a Roman olive oil ship. After immersing yourself in history, you can also visit the modern factory of Fratelli Carli and do some shopping in the adjacent store.
Lunch in a typical local restaurant to enjoy some delicious Ligurian specialties.
In the afternoon, visit to the factory of the Raineri company, founded in 1910, where you can observe the various stages of the production of extra virgin olive oil. The company philosophy is to offer consumers the highest quality of “cold pressed” extra virgin olive oil . Raineri extra virgin olive oil was included in the menu of the official gala dinner in Stockholm on the occasion of the “Nobel Prize” in 1990 and at the “Great Jubilee” in 1991.
